Maria, a young girl in the Halton Region, has been fighting her own battle in mental health since she was just 12 years old. When she sought help, she discovered ROCK Reach Out Centre for Kids.
We offer walk in clinics for children every Wednesday in Maria’s neighbourhood. She spoke to one of our therapists, and was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Major Depression. While discovering the problem was a breakthrough for Maria, she worried that she would be treated differently due to the stigmas attached to mental health.
Rather than hiding, Maria saw this as her opportunity to help make a difference for others. She knew that she could not be the only one fighting these inner battles. She has now become an advocate for mental health awareness for youth in her community.
On May 2nd, Maria is organizing a walk to raise funds and awareness for children’s mental health. She is donating all of the money raised to our organization so others can benefit from the services provided by ROCK Reach Out Centre for Kids.
Please help support Maria’s brave and generous cause. You can participate in the walk, and donate to the cause on her GoFundMe page.
We cannot thank you enough Maria for all of your hard work.
